Arte Fiera is the International Contemporary Art Fair that takes place every year in Bologna. This year it was a special edition as it was the 40th birthday of this super event 🙂
The long weekend of Arte Fiera, from the 20th January till the 2nd of February, was super full of art, events in the city, art exhibitions’ openings, parties and… good vibrations! In addition to the main event that was taking place at the BolognaFiere exhibition center, there had been lots of interesting events … actually I had been around all day for 4 days and it was so nice to live Bologna with that mood!
I should write 10 pages for telling everything I would wish, but I’ll try to recap as better as I can the things I liked it most in the vibrant Bologna of those last days 😉
SETUP FAIR
The almost abandoned first floor of the Bologna’s bus station was the location for the 3 days of SetUp Fair, the indipendent contemporary art fair which gives rise to under 35 emerging artists. I really liked the unconventional location and many interesting photo projects! The one I preferred was “Uncertain States” by Sonia Lenzi, a photo project on her family memories; her photos moved me, with their shades of colours and for the life’s moments she fixed in those shots, lovely displayed to better tell her “story”.
SetUp Fair is also an excellent example on how to give back value with super cool events to abandoned buildings like this. Good job! 🙂
EXHIBITION OPENING OF “Must Have -Proud to be italian” by Marcello Reboani at Hotel Baglioni
At the bar of the super well known Hotel Baglioni in via Indipendenza, in a kind of fellinian movie set’s mood, it took place the opening of Marcello Reboani’s exhibition with his artworks dedicated to objects and products which became Italian symbols. Original, tridimensional, colourful and pop those artworks are worth to be seen from a close point of view and made us think on how the “Made In Italy” is a status symbol all around the world! Well, actually I didn’t know that the famous Big Babol chewing gums where Italian 😉
It was also a good occasion for me to drink a cocktail, feeling like in a vintage movie of the 60s, at this 5star hotel’s bar, since ever a symbol of Bologna!
The exhibition will be there until the 15th of February.
EXHIBITION OPENING + PARTY of “Affinity” by Brad Wilson at Visionnarie Home Philosophy
At the amazing and luxurious Visionnarie Home Philosophy’s showroom (via Farini,33) I found giraffes, tigers, elephants, jaguars portraited in some glam and almost “human” shots by Brad Wilson. The beautiful photos were amazingly exposed in their different rooms and floors in between the amazing pieces of design and vintage furniture!
The night was amazing thanks also to the super cool aperitivo/ party 🙂
Brad Wilson “Affinity” will be exposed there until the 28th of March.
STREET EVENT for the photo exhibition “Brisa selfies…” by Francesco Mastrorilli at Well Done Burger
Maybe you could have seen one of the 30 photo shots of some of the most beautiful Bologna’s spots always with a pair of sneakers’ close-up… Those are Francesco Mastrorilli’s shoes, an amateur photographer on Instagram whose pictures are exposed at Well Done Burger in via Caprarie, 3.
Francesco was in front of the restaurant signing and giving away lots of his pics… I chose this one, let’s see if you guess where it was shot… 😉
WHITE NIGHT PARTY at Ascom
No doubt, I give an A to the saturday night official party organized by Ascom Bologna for Art City White Night, the long night of Arte Fiera.
The amazing historical building, house of Ascom in Strada Maggiore 23, was the location of a super nice party with DJ set and video performances… nice atmosphere, incredible place, fantastic cocktails (with the cocktail bar perfectly managed by Ruggine‘s staff) and lots of fun and nice people. What else?

Arte Fiera: the official event
At the end, but not at last, for my view on the Arte Fiera ‘s official exhibition ( this year exposed on 3 pavillions) I will make pictures talk on what I loved and gave me special emotions 🙂
