Where to have brunch in Bologna: my top 7choices

I LOOOOOVE to have brunch! Sundays are lazy, everything is slower and you want to have someting special to pamper yourself and I like to have this special breakfast/lunch with friends, in that perfect mix of salt and sweet!

Sunday monrnings are made for long talks, long coffees, some yawns and delicious things to eat. In Bologna, for my happiness, during the last years a lot of places have started to offer a brunch menù during the weekend… I obviously tried them all and at the end this is my top 5 list of the best brunches in the city :).

PAPPARE’

The first time I entered at Papparè I felt totally in live with this place! It opened the last September and this cafe makes you feel as you where in New York or in some northern Europe big city!

The brunch offer can’t miss here: there’s no brunch fixed formula but you can choose from the various menù options. Delicious pancakes, salmon and avocado croutons (sooo good!), scrambled eggs, yoghurt with various toppings, cakes, salted and sweet croissants… the problem here is what to choose!

I suggest you to drink, during your brunch, their american coffee, for me the best in Bologna (as a matter of fact the blend was created for them by the amazing Torrefazione Lelli)!

LAMPADINA CAFE’

This lovely place that you can find on the crossroads of via Barberia with via Nosadella it was for me a nice discovery of this past months, and it gained one of my top positions in my favorite places for breakfast.

The brunch menù at Lampadina Cafè is available everyday from 1130 to 1530 with bagels with different fillings , toasts (love the avocado toast with fresh flowers on the top!), and super yummy pancakes. Coffee is really TOP, made with Torrefazione Lelli’s roasting, I love the chemex one, if you like long coffees like me you have to try it ;). You can also try their famous “lampuccino“, an aromatized special cappuccino, for those who want to try different tastes…

I CONOSCENTI BOLOGNA

This place is one of the nicest news of the city in the last years, a glamourous place, stylish interiors, with a contemporary and relaxed atmosphere where it’s so nice to have an aperitivo or going for dinner. Since 2019 they have brunch menù on sundays, where you can choose from some typical dishes of the newyorker special breakfast. Pancakes, omelettes, scrambled eggs, club sandwiches, mini hamburgers, salmon toasts, American cakes and lots of American coffee…. what else for being happy?

There’s also for brunch time a nice selection of no-alcohol cocktails called “mocktails”; I tried the one with pineapple juice, ginger beer, mint and cherries… so delicious! A brunch that takes you inside the atmosphere of a Soho’s cafè in New York <3

RODOLFO

Rodolfo is a lovely place in a little street of Strada Maggiore, not far from the two towers. Here every Saturday and Sunday you can have brunch, with a fixed formula (regular or veg) that changes every time.

Al is served inside lovely wooden cases, where you’ll find a delicious mix of  filled bagels, sandwichs, muffins and quiches . All is served with fresh orange juice and American long coffees! There’s an intimate atmosphere and it seems like being at someone’s place, perfect for quiet brunch e lots of talk 🙂

OUI IN CUCINA

This little cafe in via Andrea Costa has such a big personality… you can unterstand it as long as you open the door and enter! The interior decor and the atmosphere make you feel as you where in a little french bistrot…

Their brunch offer (only on saturdays) is really special and is made of a yummy menù that is served dish after dish: salad, muffin, hamburger or bagel (even in the veg option), pancakes, yoghurt, fresh orange juice… for sure you won’t be hungry at the end!

Oui in Cucina is really small so, beside the dehor tables, you can eat at the counter… maybe it can be a little narrow but it can be fascinating! Oui, Ja’dore! 😉

Il posto è piccolo e oltre ai pochi tavolini all’esterno si mangia al bancone, un po’ strettini ma devo dire che ciò ha il suo fascino! Oui! J’adore!

DOPPIO CIVICO – COFFEE &BAKERY

Doppio Civico Coffee & Bakery is a place that truly represents a real American bakery’s suburb mood.

Everyday you can choose from various menù options like yummy pancakes, waffles, bagels, scrambles eggs with bacon and so on… ! I think bagels are really amazing,  just baked and so soft, with many delicious filling options (even vegan)! Also here they offer fresh roasted American coffee, and I usually asked for 2 refills 😉

If you spare some space there are yummy cupcakes in their counter’s window that will tempt you for sure! The place is cozy and it’s really easy to park near it 😉

ROSA ROSE

Rosa Rose is one of the legendary places of Bologna’s city center… It has gone through lots pf changes and moods and now I must say it’s really welcoming!

Brunch is served from 9am to 3pm and it comes just in two options: classic or vegetarian. You’ll get a really big tray with a main salt dish (like mozzarella and tomatoes), pancakes, croissant, the cake of the day, bread with butter and jam and a fresh orange juice!

The menù decor and the interior decor recall the jungle so as a placemat you’ll have a banana tree’s leaf thet will make your brunch a little “savage” ;). We’ll have to try it also being sit on the outside tables in the charming via Clavature, really in the heart of the historical center of Bologna!

A big suggestion. Always make a reservation for those places because they are not that big and usually a lot of people reserve for brunch! Then you’ll tell me which one will be your favourite!
