Fienile Fluo is one of those special places for me in Bologna. It’s hard to define it exactly as it’s a bunch of things together: agritourism, theater, a place where different kind of events take place (from a concert to yoga classes to a DJ set) and now also a charme relais. After about 10 minutes along the famous and lovely roads of Bologna’s hills you can easily reach this dreamy location: a chic renewed barn in between the “calanchi” (deep cracks in between the clayish hills) and a super green landscape all around.
I started to go there years ago, when the idea of this place just started (they already owned the agritourism) and wanted to become a meeting place of art, food and nature. The soul and driving force of this project is called Angelica Zanardi, tireless creative mind who places side by side her being a professional actress to this activity, putting her lovely and poetical view of the world inside all that happens at the Fienile Fluo.
The name “Fienile Fluo” comes from a fascinating unique story: during the 17th century in this area it was found a particular stone, called “baritina”, that had fluorescent properties that attracted artists, scientists and researcher from all over the world. Nowadays it’s hard to find pieces of this stone, but you can see some of them exposed there and test with your eyes their fluorescent properties… I got enchanted! Then, during this summertime until the 18th of September, a lot of events dedicated to this stone will take place: under the name of “Pietre Lucenti tra i colli” you’ll find special walks, live concerts, laboratories and a stage show called “La Meraviglia. Lo strano caso della pietra fosforica boloniensis”.
Here I am while admiring those fascinating stones… I also made a wish, maybe they also have those magical powers 😉
At Fienile Fluo you go for eating, having a drink, for brunch, to attend an event, for breakfast, for a yoga class… for everything you want! I really like the cozy feeling of this place during the wintertime, but I totally love the unique atmosphere you can find in the garden during summertime.. let’s see if I can give you the idea with these pics…
Thanks to Crexida, Angelica’s association, there are always a lot of events going on and every night you can find something interesting! The aim of this place is to create a cultural activity to enjoy art in an unconventional way, maybe enhanced by the surrounding nature. I suggest you to keep an eye on their agenda on their website and on their Facebook page for all the news.
Among the events that have been organized recently I think a really special one is that of the dinners between the vineyard: they set up a special restaurant under the stars, all around just little lights and on this long table, with a lovely-chic tablescape, people sit and dine all together. A perfect night for special times with friends or with your sweetheart! During all the dinners there are always some music or some kind of entertainment.
This dinners are only on special dates and you have to book them: during September 2016 there will be other two dates (the 3rd abd the 17th) and I will not miss one of them, cause they really seem magical events (then I will tell you for sure about them 😉 )!
Since two years it’s also possible to sleep here at Relais Casa Fluo, 4 gorgeous rooms in a little house close to the barn.
The rooms are decorated with a unique taste, all different from one another, with design furniture but also with unique recycled pieces of art. What impressed me is the mix of modern/chic retro that gives at the end a really unique atmosphere! All the rooms hav then all kind of amenities such as wi-fi, a PA system to connect all your devices and, depending on the room, a steam bath or a hot tube :D!
I really fell in love with those rooms and I think that once I will make a city getaway and spend a night here… not a bad idea, ah? 😉
Fienile Fluo has lots of sides and I suggest you to choose the one that most fascinate you, in order to live at its best this magical place among Bologna’s beautiful hills 🙂
